Hi Everyone.. Just wondering if any of you who self inject get any problems. I have been put on mtx injections and for weeks was doing really well no probs then one morning felt sick before I did it but not too bad, following week dreaded it! Dont know where this fear has come from! I cant look properly when I do it and jab it in so fast it hurts! I do tell myself im being irrational but already dreading Tuesday...

Oh that's a shame ceri-specially if you did it ok at first. I wonder if ou could ask your nurse at the surgery to do it for you to give you some confidence back? Also, try numbing the area first with an ice cube YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Ceri, I self inject, Tuesday's my day too! Been ok so far (3 years) although I'm doing it a bit later each time, still on the same day. Just tired of the whole thing I suppose. Have a word with your nurse I'm sure she'll be able to help. Hope your ok soon, take care, Kathleen x

Hi Ceri, I was very nervous when I started to self inject and my rheumie nurse was brilliant. She talked me through it and just calmed me down so much. It's well worth phoning your nurse and asking her if you can inject with her there so that she can reassure you......good luck, Allison x

Hi Ceri,
Might sound like a daft suggestion but you can get a cream that helps remove the pain of injections - they use it for children. I think it is called Emla cream - you apply it about 5 mins before I think - never tried it personally though.
Good luck, Jo

Ceri
Can I ask where you inject yourself? I always injected into my thigh and it hurt like hell. I now inject into my spare flab on my tummy (just grab a handful) and it does not hurt at all. Maybe something to think about?
Regards
Jackie

Jackie that's a good tip! It hurts me in my thigh much more than in my stomach. YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

[ Well done Ceri, I think RA sufferers are stronger than they think. It seems to me we are always having to find yet more inner strength to face yet another challenge!!! Good for you......Allison xx
